September 6th, 2019 - Latin Club Officers Meeting
Latin Club Officers Meeting to discuss the new school year coming up, as well as events that would be coming up in the coming months, like field trips, March of Dimes, the Food Drive and the Blood Drive.
September 26th, 2019 - New Latin Club Member Meeting
All Latin Club Officers introduced themselves to the new members of the Clearview Latin Club. Events and committees were discusses, and new members were able to sign up for the committees they wanted to join. Important dates like the Food Drive and March of Dimes were discussed as well as the Field Trips the Clearview Latin Club takes throughout the school year. The meeting ended, opening it up for the new members to ask questions and receive answers from the Club Officers.
October 1st, 2019 - New Latin Club Member Meeting Middle School Students
The Clearview Middle School students will be able to meet the Club Officers, and get to know what the Clearview Latin Club is all about. They will be informed like the other new members from the high school, of club events, activities, field trips and committees that they are eligible to sign up for.
October 9th, 2019 - Scavenger Hunt
New Latin Club members were able to go on a scavenger hunt around the school, using clues to navigate their way through Latin related questions!
October 17th, 2019 - Terror Behind The Walls
Students traveled to Eastern State Penitentiary, and enjoyed time with friends as they explored the old Penitentiary that became a haunted attraction for people to enjoy.
November 4th, 2019 - Venus De Volleyball
Students from the Clearview Latin Club went to Venus De Volleyball and were able to compete against other schools and their Latin Clubs, and enjoy playing volleyball.
November 14th, 2019 - Pack the Bus!
Throughout the months of October and November, the Clearview Latin Club collected food for the Food Drive, that the Latin Club has every year. The Latin Club traveled to the South Jersey Food Bank on the 14th, to deliver all the food the students managed to get in school and throughout the neighborhoods where flyers were handed out. It was a huge success on the end!
November 22nd, 2019 - Officers' Meeting
The Latin Club Officers held an Officers' meeting, and discussed the New York Trip, March of Dimes, Scrap-booking Committee, and the results from Pack the Bus!
November 26th, 2019 - General Latin Club Member Meeting
The Club held a General Latin Club Member Meeting discussing future events that the Latin Club would participate in such as, the New York Trip, March of Dimes, Scrapbooking, and NLEE!
December 2019 - Toys for Tots
Throughout the month of December, the Clearview Latin Club, as well as other Clearview Clubs collect toys for the Marine Corps' Toys For Tots.
December 8th, 2019 - New York Trip
The New York City trip was fun filled as members of that Latin Club that wished to go on the trip traveled to the Met Museum, and saw the Percy Jackson Musical as well!
December 16th, 2019 - Saturnalia Party
The Clearview Latin Club celebrated their annual Saturnalia party with food and games to celebrate the occasion!
January 7th, 2020
At the club's general meeting, important events such as the Blood Drive were discussed as well as exams that the students can take in the upcoming months. Community Service discussed 'Letters for Soldiers', and Certamen dates were discussed for NJJCL and Princeton.
February 7th, 2020 - Blood Drive
The Clearview Latin Club as well as the American Red Cross Club worked the annual blood drive that Clearview hosts each year. People who donated blood, and were 18 or older, were also able to sign up with DKMS, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting blood cancer and blood disorders, to help people who need a bone marrow transplant. The Blood Drive was extremely successful this year!
February 19th, 2020 - General Club Meeting
;The Latin Club discussed the Philadelphia Classical Society ( PCS ) contest and when the projects would need to be turned in. We also discussed the caramel fundraising that the Latin Club was going to do. We discussed the Publicity Award that the club won; Congrats Allison! March of Dimes, something the Latin Club does every year was beginning to be talked about as well as Relay for Life, Stars for Stars, and Park Cleanups. Classics Week was discussed as well, and what the Latin Club would be doing for the week of April 15th-21st!
February 29th, 2020 - Certamen at Princeton!
Certamen teams from Clearview's Latin Program traveled to Princeton to compete in the Princeton Certamen! Certamen centers on the love of the Classics, where students compete together and against other schools.
NO SCHOOL - March 16th -> Undetermined
Because of the COVID-19 Outbreak, there is no in-person school, but virtual school will still be in session everyday for the students of Clearview Regional High School.
April 17th - Latin Officers Meeting ( 1st Virtual Meeting )
The Clearview Latin Club Officers discussed what they would need to adjust because of the new situation they were now in, with addressing NJJCL State Convention, and Classics Week!
Classics Week! - April 19th-25th
Classics Week is the JCL's annual celebration of the civilizations of Greece and Rome. Clearview celebrated Classics Week throughout the week of the 19th through the 25th, using Goosechase. Goosechase is an app that allows you to customize a photo and video scavenger hunt played virtually, which helps since we are all at home now.
Rome's Birthday - April 21st
Rome was founded on April 21st of 753 BC, after the twin brothers, Romulus and Remus, who were abandoned on the shore of the Tibert River and were raised by a she-wolf. The story continued to Romulus naming the city after himself, on April 21st, 753 BCE. We couldn't be in school to celebrate, but from home we celebrated Rome's founding!
